The Emerson String Quartet, one of the world’s foremost chamber ensembles, has become a revered and familiar name at Stony Brook. The group returns for its fourth year as Quartet in Residence, teaching students in the Department of Music and presenting concerts that enliven and enhance the Staller Center season. Violinists Eugene Drucker and Philip Setzer alternate in the first chair
position and are joined by violist Lawrence Dutton and cellist David Finckel.
If you would like to hear the Emerson String Quartet in concert, please buy tickets early
since the hall sells out well before the performance date.
In the first of three concerts this season, the Emerson String Quartet’s program is all-
Beethoven: Quartet No. 6 in B flat Major, Op. 18; Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op.
95 "Serioso;" Quartet No. 12 in E flat Major, Op. 127.
