The Emerson String Quartet is a pacesetter in
classical and contemporary repertoire.
Deutsche Grammophon recently released the
group’s recording of the complete
Mendelssohn quartets and included a
performance of Mendelssohn’s famous
Octet, in which the Emerson Quartet plays
all eight voices by using a
computer designed specifically
for this release.
Formed in 1976, the
Emerson String Quartet
took its name from the
American poet and
philosopher Ralph Waldo
Emerson. This program
includes Beethoven Quartet in f minor, Op. 95
, Nicholas Maw 4th Quartet and
Mendelssohn String
Quartet No. 3 in D Major,
Op. 44, No. 1.
