North Carolina Dance Theatre brings ballet
and toe-tapping live bluegrass music to
Staller Center in a high-energy performance
with "dancers who have elegance, a sense
of fun and a feel for danger." (Clive Barnes,
NY Post).
In Under Southern Skies the internationally
lauded North Carolina Dance Theatre
celebrates the music and artists of the South
and reflects on the ever-changing landscape
of the region. The program includes
Shindig-a rollicking ballet influenced by
traditional dance from the foothills of North
Carolina. New works by Artistic Director
Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, former Alvin Ailey
dancer and current company member Uri
Sands, and the choreographer Mark Godden,
contribute to the program. Each explores an
aspect of what makes the South, its artists,
and the culture of the region unique.
