The Prisoner of Second Avenue is
Neil Simon’s classic tale of a married couple
trying to survive life in their New York
apartment building after the husband loses
his job, starring Sharon Gless and Richard Masur. Sharon Gless, Emmy and Golden Globe winner known for her role as Christine Cagney in the TV series “Cagney and Lacy,” and for “The Trials of Rosie O’Neil, and Richard Masur, a well-known face from film and television, who has performed in over 45 feature films including Risky Business, My Girl and Heaven’s Gate, and the TV series “Picket Fences,” “Rhoda,” and “One Day at a Time,” will take the stage. JoBeth Williams and Hector Elizondo were originally scheduled to appear.
Unlike a traditional presentation of a
play, here the actors stand at microphones,
delivering their lines, while
the "foley" artist performs all the
sound effects. Broadcast on National
Public Radio and internationally on the
BBC, CBC, and Voice of America,
L.A.Theatre Works has single-handedly
brought live radio theater into the homes
of millions. An L.A.Theatre Works Radio
Theatre performance is immediate, spontaneous,
and features a first-rate cast and a
connection to the audience rarely felt in a
traditional theater setting.
