Lauded as the pinnacle of classical dance, The
Sleeping Beauty is the first successful ballet
composed by Tchaikovsky and the crowning
achievement of Choreographer Petipa.
Premiered in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1890, it
is one of the most popular ballets to date.
Sergei Radchenko, a legendary principal
dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, founded the
Russian National Ballet in 1989 to bring
together the highest classical elements of the
great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet
companies and their stars as
well as leading dancers from
throughout Russia. In this
classical repertoire, the company
takes on some of the greatest
ballet challenges for both
the principal and soloist
dancers, and plentiful action is
provided for the corps de
ballet. Families and dance
enthusiasts alike will enjoy this
innovative yet timeless classic.
