Bach, son of Johann Sebastian Bach, described life in his father’s
home as a “musical beehive.” It must have been, because J.S. Bach
had 21 children. Many went on to successful professional musical
careers, with Carl Philip Emmanuel and Johann Christian enjoying greater
fame during their lifetimes than their father. The family music
making, along with impromptu get-togethers with friends, must have been
extraordinary indeed. Members of the Aulos Ensemble will have some
fun pretending to be members of the Bach family, treating us to Bach
favorites, in this one-hour program specifically for young school-age
musicians.
