BRAHMS,
SCHUMANN, MENDELSSOHN-
COMPLETE WORKS
FOR CELLO AND PIANO
Monday, April
12, 2010 and
Thursday, April 15 at 8:00 pm
Recital Hall - $42
Colin Carr and
Thomas Sauer perform the complete works for cello and piano of Brahms, Schumann
and Mendelssohn at concert halls across the world as their major recital project
for 09-10. “We offer these recitals as an exploration of the musical
connections between Mendelssohn, Schumann and the much younger Brahms,” they
note. “All three show their true colors in their music for cello and piano.”
Both performers
are active soloists, chamber musicians, recording artists and teachers. Mr. Carr
is an esteemed member of the faculty at Stony Brook University, and has appeared
often as a guest cellist with the Guarneri and Emerson String Quartets and with
New York’s Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
Pianist Thomas
Sauer is a member of the Mannes Trio, ensemble-in-residence at the Mannes
College of Music in New York City. Mr. Sauer also collaborates frequently with
the renowned violinist Midori.
Your ticket
includes a reserved seat for both concerts. Free preperformance talks with
Thomas Sauer will be held at 7:00 pm in the Recital Hall both evenings.
