Joan Osborne performs with gospel blues band The Holmes Brothers and Mississippi heartland singer Paul Thorn in a soulful evening of pops and blues, with individual sets and musical collaborations. Joan’s first hit single was "One of Us." Then came five Grammy nominations, the Lilith Fair tour, and tours with The Dixie Chicks and lead-singing with The Dead. She performed in the film Standing in the Shadows of Motown, followed by a tour with The Funk Brothers, as well as such notables as Taj Mahal, Luciano Pavarotti, Spearhead, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, and Melissa Etheridge. Her latest CD is Little Wild One. The Holmes Brothers mix Saturday night's roadhouse rock with the gospel fervor and harmonies of Sunday's church service. Their most recent CDs are Simple Truths and State of Grace. They have recorded with Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, Willie Nelson, Rosanne Cash, and Levon Helm. Paul Thorn and his 2008 release “A Long Way from Tupelo” prompted the San Francisco Chronicle to write “The real deal comes along infrequently these days. . . word of a record this good will spread.” |
