Raisin’ Cane, called a ‘Harlem
Renaissance Odyssey,’ stars the talented and versatile Jasmine Guy, actress
(A Different World), singer and dancer. This dramatic production depicts
Harlem in the 1920’s: a pent up explosion of brilliant prose, poetry, politics
and music of African-Americans who were ready to have their say.
Backed by a superb original score performed by the
Avery Sharpe Trio, Raisin’ Cane features striking photos and paintings of the
artists and inhabitants of Harlem during this period, and is a unique theatrical
experience unlike any other.

Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed a rich
and varied career on Broadway, television, film and recordings, along with
appearances in the great American concert halls. Broadway career highlights
include Man of La Mancha, Kiss Me Kate and
Ragtime. Enjoy the rich baritone voice of Broadway’s acclaimed leading
man.
Laura Benanti charms audiences with her
glorious, expressive soprano. She portrayed Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee in the Patti
LuPone revival of Gypsy. Selected Broadway credits include The Sound
of Music, Swing!, Into The Woods, Nine, and Women on
the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
