In Germany 1772, we meet the young, impetuous poet Johann Goethe, whose father expects him to be a lawyer. Johann is sent to a sleepy provincial court to practice the profession. At first, he tries to do his best and wins the praise and friendship of his superior, Kestner. But then Lotte enters his life and
nothing is the same. The story of the romance inspiring Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther, one of the first cult romantic classics.
