A Message To Our Community:
International students are a vital part of the larger Stony Brook community and the
Lichtenstein
Center, and we deeply value their contributions to our programs. Recently, eleven
international
students at SUNY Stony Brook had their visas revoked, with no notice, recourse, or
reasons given.
These students, like all of our students, are here to study and learn, to access a
world-class
education that SUNY Stony Brook provides; how can they do so in an unstable environment
and

The Lichtenstein Center houses Stony Brook University’s academic programs, graduate and undergraduate, in creative writing, film, and writing for television, along with community programming and advanced training.
The Lichtenstein Center promotes the creation of original work in a range of disciplines, while offering opportunities for collaboration and experimentation outside of traditional program borders. . .

Co-founding director of the BookEnds novel revision fellowship Meg Wolitzer's novel The Interestings is being adapted for the stage, featuring a score by Sara Bareilles (Tony-nominated for her score for Waitress) with a book by Pulitzer Prize Finalist playwright Sarah Ruhl.
Congratulations to MFA in Film Artistic Director Christine Vachon! Killer Films, nominated for ten Golden Globes and awarded the Gotham for Best Feature for the film PAST LIVES. SBU Honorary Doctorate Todd Haynes' film MAY DECEMBER, also produced by Vachon, was awarded Best Actor at the Gotham Awards for Charles Melton.
